The absolute isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is held in İmralı F-Type High Security Prison, is in its 39th month. The global campaign launched on October 10, 2023, demanding the abolishing of the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Öcalan, ensuring his physical freedom and solving the Kurdish issue, continues with various actions and events. European countries are among the primary places where the campaign is carried out. In this context, mass protests will be held on June 25, the 12th anniversary of the "Freedom for Öcalan" action that was launched in front of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT). There will be calls for the CPT to fulfill its responsibilities.

 

Confederation of Kurdistan Communities (KON-MED) Germany Co-Chair Kerem Gök spoke about the actions and events they will organize.

 

PURPOSE OF ISOLATION

 

Emphasizing that the Imrali isolation cannot be handled independently of the policies of attack against the Kurds, Gök said: "Turkey's isolation policy towards Mr. Öcalan is not ordinary. 'We subjected the Kurds to genocide and assimilated them. But you gave national consciousness and revived it. We said one homeland, one flag, one nation in Turkey. We built one nation. You destroyed our system" The Turkish state says. This isolation policy of Turkey is due to the desire for revenge. They see Mr. Öcalan's ideas and paradigm as a threat to themselves. They want to prevent Mr. Öcalan's ideas from meeting the society through isolation."

 

25 JUNE ACTION

 

Emphasizing that the Kurds and their supporters do not accept the isolation at this stage, Gök said: "We want to ensure that this isolation is abolished by explaining Mr. Öcalan's idea to the society. We carried out civil disobedience actions on June 12. We will hold a mass action on the anniversary of the freedom for Öcalan protest, which continues in front of the CPT on June 25 and has entered its 12th year. We do our panels, seminars and social activities in Europe by associating them with isolation. We have started a signature campaign with world-renowned names. We continue our efforts to send 100 thousand postcards to Imrali. Our actions and events will continue to grow until the isolation ends." 

 

CALL TO FIGHT AGAINST ISOLATION

 

Emphasizing that the Kurds and their supporters should increase the struggle to end the isolation, Gök said: "If we do not fulfill our duties and responsibilities, we will leave our own responsibilities on the shoulders of Mr. Öcalan. This is not moral. Our call to our people and friends is this; In the 21st century, the rights and status of more than 60 million Kurds are unrecognized. This is shame. The person who will provide this status is Mr. Öcalan, who is held in isolation. For this reason, we need to fight in every field to break the isolation."
