MKG: The light shown by Evrim Alataş our guide

AMED - Making a statement on the 14th anniversary of journalist-writer Evrim Altaş's death, MKG said, "We reiterate once again that the light she showed on the path of freedom and justice will guide us."

Mezopotamya Women Journalists Association (MKG) made a statement on the 14th anniversary of the death of journalist-writer Evrim Alataş, who died due to cancer.The statement stated that the legacy of Alataş, the voice of the Free Press, will not be forgotten and included the following statements: "We commemorate Evrim Alataş, the brave voice of free thought, with respect and longing on the 14th anniversary of her passing. She has been a defender of freedom, justice and human rights throughout her journalism and writing life. Alataş, who stepped into journalism in 1994, left deep marks in her profession by working as a reporter and editor in newspapers such as Yenipolitik, Demokrasi, Ozgür Bakıs, Ulkede Ozgür Gündem, Evrensel, BirGün and Ozgürpolitik. She also has an important place in the world of literature with her works titled 'Meiosis Fission Stories' and 'The Shadow of Every Mountain Falls on the Sea'. Evrim, who compiled the tragicomic stories of the war in Kurdistan, expressed the pain and hopes of the region, and contributed to the world of cinema with the movie "Min Dît".

Alataş, who did not give up her pen and struggle even in her fight against cancer, passed away on April 12, 2010 in Amed. However, her thoughts, writings and struggle continue to inspire and guide us today. As MKG, we reiterate once again that we will not forget Evrim Alataş's struggle and legacy, and that the light she showed on the path of freedom and justice will guide us."
