AMED - KKP Spokesperson Yasin Yetişgen stated that the talks for the solution of the Kurdish issue are important and he says, “Abdullah Öcalan needs to be fully liberated in order to better contribute to the process.”
The isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imrali Type F High Security Closed Prison continues. Abdullah Öcalan, who is not allowed to meet with his family and lawyers, held a meeting with the DEM Party delegation on December 28. The delegation shared Abdullah Öcalan's 7-point message with the public in order to socialize the “solution”. Abdullah Öcalan's messages emphasizing the Turkish-Kurdish brotherhood remain hot on the agenda.
Kurdistan Communist Party (KKP) Spokesperson Yasin Yetişgen, commenting on the ongoing public debate, stated that Abdullah Öcalan must be fully liberated in order to better contribute to the process.
'RIGHTS MUST BE PROTECTED AND STRENGTHENED'
Stating that the party welcomes the resumption of talks with Abdullah Öcalan, Yetişgen said, “In addition, the isolation must be lifted completely and Öcalan must be allowed to meet with his lawyers and family members. Abdullah Öcalan needs to be fully liberated in order to better contribute to the process. On the other hand, we hope that these talks will contribute to strengthening the peace environment, protecting and developing the rights of our people and solving the Kurdish issue on a peaceful democratic ground.”
Pointing to the emphasis on “importance and urgency” in the 7-point declaration from İmralı, Yetişgen said, “The democratic and peaceful solution of the so-called ‘Kurdish problem’ but essentially the Kurd / Kurdistan problem will lead to the relief of the peoples of the Middle East and the region, which have been in an environment of war and conflict for 100 years. Also, things have not been going well for the Turkish state for a long time. If things were going well for the Turkish state, neither Bahçeli nor Erdoğan would have opened a new process. The practice of the post-2015 People's Alliance is also clear in this respect. In other words, we should pay attention to the manipulations that the government can create.”
Drawing attention to the developments in the world and the Middle East, Yetişgen said, “After Hamas' attack on Israel, Iran lost and the eastern bloc suffered a great wound. Turkey claims to have won in Syria after HTS took control of Damascus, but this is not the case. If Turkey had won in Syria, it would never have started talks with Mr. Öcalan. On the contrary, it would have escalated the war against the Kurds. This threat of war is still not over. Therefore, it is mainly the Kurdish people who are under threat here.”
'TURKS MUST RAISE A STRONG VOICE'
Addressing all peoples, especially the Turkish people, Yetişgen said, “The strongest protests against the barbarism of the Israeli State in Gaza come from the Israeli people, that is, from Tel Aviv. In order to stand against the aggression of the Turkish state against Rojava, the Turkish people must raise strong voices from Ankara and Istanbul.”
Yetişgen warned that everyone must be careful in order for the new process initiated with Abdullah Öcalan to proceed in a healthy way and said, “If this new process is to bring about a democratic and peaceful solution to the problem, it must never be allowed to be poisoned in one way or another.” Yetişgen emphasized that the rights of Kurds and minorities must be constitutionally guaranteed.
'PARLIAMENT MUST PRODUCE SOLUTIONS'
Referring to Abdullah Öcalan's pointing to the Parliament for the solution of the Kurdish issue, Yetişgen said: “One of the mistakes of the previous solution process was that the problem was not brought to the Parliament. Everyone except the interlocutors remained alien to the issue. The AKP government of the period also manipulated the issue. This is probably why Abdullah Öcalan pointed to the Parliament. All parties in and out of the Parliament should be able to distance themselves from party interests on this issue. The Kurdish and Kurdistan issue, with its past, present and future, must be addressed, discussed and resolved in the Parliament as a whole.”
'REALITY OF AUTONOMOUS ROJAVA MUST BE RECOGNIZED'
Pointing out that the Turkish government's threats against the Kurds and especially Rojava will only poison the process, Yetişgen said, “But the Turkish government is stuck in many ways. Therefore, the government needs both the talks with Mr. Öcalan, that is, a new process, and the policies of war and oppression. It will try to hold on to whichever policy works.” Yetişgen underlined that the unitary system has collapsed along with the Assad regime in Syria and pointed out that those who try to impose a unitary system will pave the way for civil war.
'CALL FOR NATIONAL UNITY'
Pointing out the importance of national unity, Yetişgen continued, "While the Kurdistan freedom struggle unites all colonial states, it cannot unite Kurds. Why? If the colonial states can unite despite all the contradictions and conflicts between them in order to eliminate the statuses in Başûr (South) and Rojava Kurdistan, Kurdish politics must also form an alliance by putting national interests ahead of party interests. To make the 21st century the century of Kurds and Kurdistan, national unity is a must. For this reason, we call on all Kurdish political colours to take steps towards national unity in all four parts of Kurdistan, especially in Rojava Kurdistan."
