AMED – During the march organized to protest the October 9 conspiracy against Abdullah Öcalan, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-chair Keskin Bayındır stated: “The Kurdish people want Mr Öcalan’s freedom because they see their own freedom in his.”

The Democratic Institutions Platform (DEKUP) held a march from Şêx Seîd (Sheikh Said-Dağkapı) Square to Tek Kapı under the slogan “With a Free Leader to a Free Society” to mark the anniversary of the international conspiracy of Octoer 9, 1998, when Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan was expelled from Syria. Participants carried banners reading “Freedom for Leader Apo, the Will of the Peoples,” and chanted slogans such as “Bê Serok jiyan nabe (There is no life without the Leader)” and “Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo)”.

‘ALL ASPECTS OF THE CONSPIRACY HAVE FAILED’

Speaking at the rally, Keskin Bayındır said a “brutal conspiracy” had been imposed on Öcalan, but “for 27 years, the Kurdish people have continuously rejected this international plot.” He emphasized that despite attempts to “eliminate the Kurdish people through Öcalan,” the Kurdish struggle has become a national and regional force under Öcalan’s leadership.

‘FREEDOM OF ÖCALAN MUST BE ENSURED’

Referring to the Peace and Democratic Society Process, Bayındır said: “The architect of this process is Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The Kurdish people did not bow to liquidation 27 years ago, and they will not now.”

He stressed that for a genuine peace requires Öcalan’s release: “If you want a real solution freedom of Öcalan must be ensured. We will continue our struggle until his freedom is achieved.”

MIDDLE EAST

Bayındır said the issue extends beyond Turkey and northern Kurdistan. “This process will open the door to freedom and peace in the Middle East. Öcalan’s stance will end the war in the region. His physical freedom means the freedom of the Kurdish people and the salvation of the Middle East.”

Bayındır criticized the government for blocking progress: “Do not test the patience of the Kurdish people. Öcalan’s freedom and the Kurdish language and culture must be contitutionally recognized.”

‘PEOPLE SEE THEIR OWN FREEDOM IN HIS’

Bayındır concluded: “The Kurdish people will never abandon their struggle for peace and freedom. They want Mr Öcalan’s freedom because they see their own freedom in his.”

The event ended with applause and slogans from the crowds.
