ŞIRNEX - "Abdullah Öcalan is the main actor of the Peace and Democratic Society Process and the commission should meet with him", politicians said.
Parliament begins the new legislative period. While a busy agenda awaits the Parliament, preparations for the legal regulations within the scope of the Peace and Democratic Society Process initiated and led by Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan take the first place.
The expectation of the peoples is that the physical freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, the main actor of the process, should be ensured and the legal regulations within the context of the process should be implemented as soon as possible.
Members of the Democratic Unity Initiative called on the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission established in the Parliament to meet with Abdullah Öcalan in the context of the process.
Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Central Executive Committee (MYK) member Hafize İpek stated that the expectations of the Kurdish people are clear and said: "The commission held 13 meetings. No matter how many meetings the commission holds without meeting Mr Öcalan, the main interlocutor, its work will be of no importance. It is a big mistake that the commission has not met Mr Öcalan until now. This mistake should be reversed without wasting any more time. Peoples have hopes because Mr Öcalan is leading the process. The state should take concrete steps as soon as possible. The way for democratic politics should be opened as soon as possible."
Azadi Party Vice President Cemal Satı pointed out that the main actor of the process is Abdullah Öcalan. "If there is to be a real peace, the main actors of this process must be listened to. For this, the commission should listen to Mr Öcalan. Every word he will say to the commission will be extremely important. A work in which Mr Öcalan is not listened to would not only be incomplete, it would render all the work done useless. Parliament has opened and work must be done for political prisoners as soon as possible. The Kurdish language must be recognised. Without these, the peoples will not trust the process," he said.
'THE WAY FOR DEMOCRATIC POLITICS MUST BE PAVED'
Songül Korkmaz from the secretariat of the Democratic Unity Initiative reminded the historic call made by Abdullah Öcalan on 27 February. Songül Korkmaz said: "After this call, when the delegations went to İmralı, Mr Öcalan emphasised the importance of establishing a commission in the Parliament. This commission has listened to people from all walks of life, but Mr Öcalan, who established the commission, has not been listened to yet. The commission should listen to Mr Öcalan as soon as possible. Mr Öcalan is the main actor in this process, how can a solution be found without meeting Mr Öcalan? Abdullah Öcalan is the interlocutor for the Kurds in the solution of the Kurdish issue."
